CARACAS, July 21 (Xinhua) -- Venezuela will review its diplomatic ties with Colombia if the country authorizes the installation of U.S. military bases close to Venezuelan border, President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday.
Chavez said on local TV channel Venezolana de Television that the U.S. military bases on Colombia's border with Venezuela represent a threat to his country.
Chavez said he has given order to Venezuelan Foreign Minister Nicolas Maduro to review the diplomatic ties with the Colombian government.
Colombia is opening its doors "to those who constantly attack us and to those who are getting ready new attacks against us," he said.
