BEIRUT, July 16 (Xinhua) -- Lebanese President Michel Suleiman said on Thursday he supports any international peace conference for the Middle East based on the Arab peace initiative, LBC TV reported.
Suleiman made the remarks in a meeting with visiting Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Alexander Sultanov, who is on a Mideast trip to boost his country's plan to stage a Moscow conference on the Mideast soon.
During an Egypt tour on June 23 to 24, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev said Russia plans to hold an international peace conference on the Middle East in Moscow under the framework of two-state solution by the end of this year.
"Any solution in the Middle East which is not based on granting the Palestinians their rights, on top of them the right to return to their land, would be an incomplete solution," Suleiman told Sultanov.
Sultanov informed the Lebanese President about the goals of his tour to the region, which are to push forward peace talks and the Moscow conference on the Middle East.
Sultanov also expressed his country's understanding of the Palestinian rights to return home and Lebanon's rejection of any Palestinian implantation, according to LBC's report.
The Lebanese President praised the "current sound relations between Lebanon and Russia" and expressed his gratitude to all Russian aids in various fields, especially in the military field.
The Russian envoy will head to Syria, Jordan, Palestinian territories and Israel after his two-day visit to Beirut which started at dawn Thursday.
