Indonesian president calls for uncompromised measures in guarding security

JAKARTA, July 23 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said that all public elements should keep on alert because terror threats still exist, not only in Indonesia but also in the rest of the world, the national news agency Antara reported on Thursday.

"I instruct all people in the government, state-owned companies and private sectors not to compromise in taking action related to security and safety," said the president after a new management building inauguration of PT Garuda Indonesia, the biggest state-run airline company, at the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The president said that activities to tighten security should not only be conducted after the terrorism incident that was passed from surveillance.

According to the president, guarding security should be done every second by tight checking to all building accesses, including checking on every luggage.

"I often criticize security guards that skip checking on people they know. Every people who enters a building should be examined," he said.

Two bomb blasts wrecked the JW Marriot and Ritz Carlton hotels in Mega Kuningan business district in South Jakarta last Friday, taking nine lives and injuring some 60 others.
