U.S. not to allow Iran to have nukes: Clinton

WASHINGTON, July 26 (Xinhua) -- The United States will do everything it can to prevent Iran from having nuclear weapons, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said here on Sunday.

Speaking in an interview with the NBC television network, Clinton insisted that Iran is not eligible to develop nuclear weapons, saying "Your (Iran's) pursuit is futile."

"What we want to do is to send a message to whoever is making these decisions, that if you (Iranians) are pursuing nuclear weapons for the purpose of intimidating, of projecting your power,

we're not going to let that happen," the chief U.S. diplomat said.
